I was surprised to not find Gay Gibson in the label resource because there are a lot of things from her/them out there. I did a lot of searching and found a lot of cute things on the internet, but no company info, etc. All I can gather is that there are GayGibson dresses from the 50s-70s out there.

I found this cute dress today.

My connection is terrible right now and it is taking 1,000 to get them up in inkfrog so I will try to attach it here. I can't wait til Tuesday...no more dial up!

There was another Gay Gibson item with it - a halter palazzo pants jump suit in red and white with polka dots and stripes i may be tempted to go back and get. I normally steer away from such things in a huge way but this dress i did pick up is so darn cute and really nice quality.

I guess the Q is...does anyone know anything solid about Gay Gibson???

Here's what I know so far:
Gay Gibson items were sold mostly through the Beals department stores in thier top of the line items. They were highly desireable for the wearablity of them and the many different styles that the line offered. And were still some what affordable too. That line mostly made dresses, but you will find a few pantsuits out there.

BTW......I have many more Gay Gibson outfits...2 are of my website....and I have a few more that I haven't gotten to really look at yet.

My grandmother and mother remembered this line clearly and always made it an appoint to look for Gay Gibson clothes at garage sales, flea markets and other places because they liked to wear them and the line had a high turn around with my grandmother's clients.

I do hope this helps. :D

Would that be two LLs like Bealls of FLorida (pronounced Bells). or is that a different store called Beals. Where did you get that great info Jamie? Or is that your personal observation?

I call that dress "Heidi a go-go" the sweet floral trim reminds me of something on a drindl.

yeah, it's 2 LL's. It was late last night when I got on, so the eyes were playing tricks on me. They are in Texas too. Not as many as they used to be, but can still find one here and there. The one near my home town is still in business and considered one of the major department store down there!!!

Most of the info I have on the line is from grandmother and mother told me because they loved the designer so much and the people that bought from us at flea markets asked for them. :spin:

I am tempted to go get the other outfit....

Bealls is all over Florida and there big push is "florida style clothing". I wonder when the clothing started. I have seen examples from the 50s-70s so assuming that was about it?

I have had many people look at my 2 dresses on my website, but no one has bought them. I haven't really checked on ebay to see how many are out there for auction and what the going price is.

I think that time line is about right. I called my mom and said she doesn't remember being able to buy anything from that line brand new from Bealls after 76 or early 77.

There's another dress???? If it as good as that one, I would get it. But that is just my thought. If you check out ebay, let me know your findings, please..... I really am bogged down at the moment to take time out to do any research at the moment.
