Getting rid of odor from rayon dress with fur detail

I recently acquired a vintage rayon dress that just absolutely reeks of body odor. Normally I would do a cold rinse but because the dress has fur trim details I don't want to get it wet.

Will a trip to the dry cleaners get the body odor out?

What sort of rayon is it? If you dry clean it, it probably won't fix the odor. My recommendation is to remove the fur trim and hand wash, and dry flat on a towel, re-shaping if necessary. Some rayons can't be washed without damaging, rayon crepe is one of these.

You need to kill the bacteria that's causing the odor, and dry cleaning is unlikely to do that.

Thank you Nicole! The fur trim is on the pockets and bodice but I believe it shouldn't be too difficult to remove. It's not crepe rayon, at least I don't think it is. Fabrics is not my strongest suit. Would a photo help?

Vodka. And/or pet stain removers with active enzymes. Provied, of course, that you CAN get the item wet.
I've had good luck in the past with spritzing the vodka at the underarms until damp and them steam steam steam from the inside for a loooooong time. Let dry & check. Be sure to warm it up and test! BO tends to smell the worst when it's heated up!!

We miss you too, Kristine, but understand—glad you are busy with successful stores!

Yes as Kristine suggested- Vodka can work if you can get the item wet - I often use Vodka spray on theatre costumes diluted with water, its is very effective for removing body odours ;) You dont need much, just experiment a little, often 1/4 vodka to 3/4 water in a spray bottle is all you often need or even less- and it can be cheap Vodka too. Then steam it as much as you can.
