Hi, I’ve been trying to identify this dress with no luck. The tag says Ferre and has the same little knick on the E as the verified Ferre tags.
However this doesn’t look much like the tags I have seen while researching, the all have “Gianfranco” on as well.

Is this a cheap dupe or is it possible it could be real? There are no other tags than the one in the picture.
The fabric is very soft and almost silk-like. I don’t know if it’s actually silk though

Thank you!!

I am not sure that this is an actual Gianfranco Ferre dress but a Ferre dress. So not a 'dupe,' in my opinion just a different manufacturer and perhaps around the time of his death so they could take advantage of the brand recognition. So it's not vintage but more modern, around 2009.

I believe even the more recent Gianfranco Ferre dresses had his full name.

But I await others' opinions on this...

Ferre was its own line within the GF universe - it’s the successor to his white label line. I haven’t seen a tag exactly like that one but it’s similar enough (other tags I’ve seen were black with light color stitching, but same font, same basic layout), and that line wasn’t high end enough that I’d guess there would be many replicas. Is there a fabric or care tag inside? That might be helpful in figuring it out.

Edit: Search Ferre on Vestiaire Collective and you’ll come up with examples of items that have similar tags.

thank YOU!!! Enjoy the learning here, appreciate your weighing in. So when could this label be approximately?

Based on the label and style of the dress, it looks somewhere from Y2K to late 2000s to me. But I’m really not sure! I don’t know exactly which years that kind of label was used, only that it was one of the later iterations.

Ah I’m sorry, english isn’t my first language so sometimes I struggle with figuring out what people mean. What I’m understanding is that it’s still a GF dress, but just from it’s own line from more modern times? Which is not as high end (but apparently still worth a buck looking at the prices on Vestiare?) :)
