Howdy,
I am a bit deficient when it comes to dating girdles. I am cleaning through some of my accumulation when I stumbled upon this mint condition one that I somehow thought I would wear at some point but never did.

I googled to no avail - I can't find anything on Colibri. Well, there is a Colibri, but it has nothing to do with girdles. And what does the 80 mean? Unless it means 80 cm = 31 inches roughly. But that doesn't seem to quite equate with the waist or hip measurement, however.

I reduced the label to the label resource-approved size just in hopes someone has some info and it can be added.

Be patient for a moment...more photos are forthcoming...

Also, if you were selling this, what would you price it at. I just have no earthly cool what at least would be a range on this sort of thing, not being an ancient one.

Thanks!

The only other tidbit I have is that "colibri" means hummingbird in spanish, and is also a variety of hummingbird....but that's all. oddly, I don't think its a french word at all. That's not much to go on, I know. Tells me nothing more.

Hi,

I am not a girdle collector, but I do think this is from the late 1920's to early 30's. I had a few girdles from the 1920's that had this same "waffle" texture. And of course that peachy-skintone color was a popular 1920's color for girdles, corsets and garter belts. Due to the length and relative lightwightness of it, this may be for a young woman or college age girl, or a "sportswear" girdle. But I will let the lingerie dealers chime in with more info. It is cute!

Thanks, Barbara. The waffle weave stuff almost looks bullet proof in a way lol. You could be right that its for a college aged girl due to the size. What confused me is that I am used to seeing "hourglass" proportions as I am more used to post-war things, but perhaps that could speak to the customer (college aged girl versus matron) and the era (straighter figures were in.)
