Gladiator boots or botties - date check please.

Wondering if these are 80s? Piccara by Gomez Rivaz, Spain. Leather and snakeskin with rubber soles and a leather detail between the top lift and sole to look like a partial stacked heel. Zips at back, leather insoles and gold stamped: one shoe with Piccara by GR and the other GR.... made in etc.,

Thanks!

I think they are more likely early 90s. The thick white rubber sole with the deep treads are industrially influenced from things like Doc Martins in style. The straight back is very early 90s in style - 80s boots are more shaped through the back of the ankle. Also the square toe was not used in the 80s, that I can think of, but you do see it in the early - mid 90s. Finally, the rivets and snakeskin trims are vaguely Western or cowboy boot inspired. Added all together, it could be early as about 1990 and as late as about 1996. There was that period where stiletto heeled shoes fell from favour and everyone was wearing heavy soles, flats, and Louis heels, and I think these boots are from that brief era in the early 90s.
