hello! i would appreciate any help dating this top. it is a sheer material, no tags. what type / style of blouse would you say this is?

Pretty. I can't see a lot of construction details, but it looks like the seams are serged. . If this were 30s or early 40s, I would expect flat felled or French seams. I would also expect a bit more shape to the body and detailing at the shoulders. Shoulder pads are pretty subtle for full-on 80s, so I would guess 90s. It looks like it might have been a topper for a sleek black party dress.

Maggie is correct in it being an over blouse. The buttons would go in the back though
