I'm going to ask your opinion on the date of these because they were the first pair I sold and ever since I've been second guessing myself :(
I tried to research Preston shoe makers but didn't get anywhere other than finding shoemakers in the area.
I put them in the 70's due to the size and style of the writing and having found several similar pairs (albeit without the shell style decoration) in adverts of the period, usually accompanying swimwear. The soles are quite a modern type of plastic as well as the heel tips which I thought ruled out an earlier date.
Please put my mind at ease!

I looked up CH Preston (that is what the initials at the heel say, right?) and found this advert on ebay from 1954 for a shoemaker CH Preston & Sons Limited.(listing closed so okay to link I think)

That ad has them in Sileby Leicestershire, and UK data has a CH Preston & Sons Limited with a Leicester address, incorporated 1929 dissolved 1983, though not in Sileby it's presumably the same company.

Not that this helps date your shoes much!

It probably means they were bought and kept by a local person though as that's only 20 mins away from where I live.

I have just bought another fedora hat today made by a leicestershire Hatters so there's plenty of local history around here.
