Gorgeous 80\'s? Victor Costa 2 pc 1 Shoulder Gown

I think this 2 piece set/gown by Victor Costa is from the 80's. Is that right?? Also, any ideas on fabric or style description. The skirt has white tulle under it. It is peach and orange. What do you call the way the fabric is on the shoulder? Should I wait to list this until next spring for prom season. Any ideas on titles, description, pricing appreciated. I know those are a lot of questions. I am just starting to learn about vintage clothing. Thanks, Donna

Well I am not the best at dating so I cannot give you advice.. 80's seams appropiate,, big ruffles big hair lol....

um the cut of the dress (shoulder wise) is simply referred to one shouler neckline lol... not much jazz. needs a better name huh? or you could call it single shohoulder, or single sleeve, or somehting like that.

As far as material sorry I cant help you thats my WORST area! good luck!! :-)

perhaps boufant one shoulder ruffle neckline might be kinda catchy?

I also posted this question on another board and someone there said it is from the 1970's. Do you think it's 70's?

i was thinking early 80's but please do not trust me.. I am very very new to this... and the "area" that I am focused on and somewhat comfortable in is the 40-60 stretch,,, the 70s and 80s are out of my league..... but i grew up in the 80's (i was little though) and thats stuff my mom and i owuld wear....i suppose 70's.... but I odnt know the "clues" of those eras...

just first impression was i've seen that so 80's works. but does not mean that 70's doesnt either...

best bet.. wait on a trade memeber to chime in.. they are verified and most do this for a living... and/or look up 70's and 80's prom dresses online and see what you find :-)

Good luck and I will do the same!

i dont see any quite like your in the 70's

they are labelling them as 70'80s

so i hinestly think 80's they liked to copy styles then... they like to make them "bigger" and the ruffles just seem "big" to me.... so maybe its right on that 70/80 line...but if I were selling it I would personally list as 80's.......

but like I said dont trust me... wait for a trade memeber :-)

Also as far as listing it... if you are doig e-bay wait until the 16th.. they are lowering fixed item price to only 35 cents a listing no matter asking price... aslo the listing is good for 30 days!!! whata deal!!! if you offer fee shipping you get a free subtitile too. so if you listed it this way until april/may it would only cost you what $2.80 in listing fees... pretty darn cheap in compariosson.... :-) plus I like buy it now (fixed price) with best offer because the person either wants it or doesnt.. you not "praying" to the e-bay fads..ups and downs. :-)

hope that helps!

Are there any contents tags anywhere in dress?

skirt looks like raw silk, with chiffon overlay bodice, if no contents tags you could do a burn test

What a frothy confection! I do think it would fair best in the early spring, when people are looking for spring party/prom gowns. The skirt does look like silk shantung, or at least shantung. The ruffles look like organza. The belt looks like taffeta.

I always have a hard time dating Victor Costa's creations. If it were someone else I'd venture mid 80s.
