I am wondering if this is 50's or 60's I guess it would have been worn with a sweater (?), it has a hook and eye closure, you wouldn't have worn it with a blouse would you?

Faux pearls and metallic threading looped all over flat leaf shapes Satin backed. Label on back is Glentex made in Japan.

Thats the best I could get with my camera I hope its clear enough and should I use the words beaded collar necklace sweater in the title?
TIA

I always think of these as mid - late 1950s, maybe very early 1960s. I think they were intended for use on sweaters to glam them up for after 5 wear. I had a brown sweater once that had one of these stitched on, and the opening of the collar was in the back, not the centre front.

Thank you Jonathan, I just kept thinking sweater girl out on the town, and not just for milkshakes at the local hop!

I think the milkshake date would be more cute little peterpan white eyelet!

They are becoming more fashionable now. A boutique I consign at on the Lower East Side asked me to source some. I was snapping them up for nothing on eBay, but they often had problems with condition that the sellers just had no clue about.

They don't do well on eBay right now. Wait a little while. If the trendy girls here are just getting in to them, it will take a while for the trickle-down effect. And your's is especially cute with the leaf-shaped beads!

My Nana always wore these with her semi-casual (not that she ever dressed casual, but when he was trying to be casual in an evening, this is what she'd wear with seperates) evening outfits during winter 1963 (and wore them occasionally as far as 1966)... she was quite a fashion junkie and very into her designer labels so I can usually pin an exact season down thanks to something she was pictured wearing at certain events.

I should really dig through the trunks in the loft full of her clothing to find labels and things for this site... there's some amazing pieces in there but there's lots of fur and leather and I'm too vegetarian to stomach it all. :-( I'm tempted to remove the fur edging so I can wear some of them but I feel it would spoil the outfits.

love, moons and starrs,
Senti.*
