Gorgeous shoes, 20s or earlier?

I'm a vintage shoe freak, but I don't often get a pair that I just want to stroke and pet! They're incredibly soft, would it be safe to assume kid leather?

I bought them thinking they were 20s, but once I had them in my hands, I started to wonder if they were earlier than "flapper era".
And would enameling be an accurate way to describe the painted detailing?

I think they are earlier, I have a similar pair white lace up, that I think is Edwardian, the softest leather I have ever felt! Sadly they don't fit me. A weird thing is that when I took them to the flea market and sun got to them they turned grayish, so strange, handle with care.

I think those are stunning! :drooling22: are you selling? what size are they?

I'm sure Jonathan can give you the year (or month) they were made, heheh

I was hoping you'd show up, Jonathan. Is the shape of the heel the primary clue for mid 30s? Help me see what you see!

Yes, the Spanish heel is introduced in 1926ish. The instep strap begins to lose favour after about 1932 but it does continue on until the late 1930s and this shoe seems to have a very almond shaped toe which is an early - mid 30s toe shape. The painted design looks like its imitating folk embroidery which is something I would expect to see in the 1930s rather than the 1920s. Adding up all the elements it fit the early-mid 30s the best for me and it can't date before 1926, so it is definately safe to say c. 1926 - 1936 as the time spread.
