My guess is that this purse is from the 1940s or so. Lucille de Paris handbags are similar but not quite the same. There is a yellow painted tag that seems to have faded but no other id's. Thank you for your time and any information you may have to share!!

Is the interior vinyl? That would place it later, like 60s-80s. (I think more likely 60s, for a more mature person.) It does have the look of a 40s purse. And, that elephant-like textured leather was done in the 10s-20s. Can you tell if the exterior is real leather? Also, can you photograph the interior with a bit more light? I know it's hard to open something and photograph it! But, if the interior is vinyl, I don't think it is any older than mid 60s.

Hard to be sure from just the photos, but it looks a lot like some of the early 20th century handbags, wallets and small luggage pieces I have handled over the years. The grain looks a bit like faux elephant hide (embossed real leather) which was popular then. I am thinking 1910-1920. Curious what the top decorative closure is made of though, is it brass? Is it lined in satin?

Hi! The handbag itself is fairly heavy, so I think real leather. While researching more this week, I came across pinseal or seal leather. I think this handbag is older than I realized! My new estimate is early 1900s/Edwardian times.

Hi! I am fairly certain the top closure is brass. It also has a brass frame. I'll take a photo and post it so hopefully you can see it better! Thanks

Hi!
I think you may be on to something with the 10s-20s decades. I am pretty sure it is real leather. Perhaps seal leather that became popular around this time.

I've been reading about turn of the century handbags and this bag fits the description imo for a early handbag made by a leather maker, instead of fashion designer. Maybe more victorian even, like an early handbag made in 1861 by H.J. Cave. Crafted with the idea of utility for women in mind. It is simple, sturdy, well made, has small interior pocket (maybe for cosmetics). It also has a matching coin purse, which as popular for the time. The inside looks like leather too. I'll attach a picture

I’m glad we are seeing the same on this piece! I have several of the faux elephant that are actually cool little billfolds or compartment type purses. The clasp on this and not knowing the interior composition has me scratching my head.
Hi! I think it might be seal skin? I'm not quite sure however. Here are a few more interior photos to reference. Thanks!

The zipper and the style of the interior makes me think it is later, circa 1950s-1960s. Almost certainly not before 1920s. Let's see what others think, seeing the more clear interior photos.

Interesting point about the zipper! Now I am even more curious about this bag!
