hi Everyone,
Many of the coats/jackets I"ve seen like this are listed as 1940s....I'm pretty sure this is not a swing coat.....is it a car coat? Is there another name?

Thanks alot,
Lauren

"Swing coat" is another one of those abused terms - I'd call yours an evening coat or just fur jacket, rather than car coat (car coats are casual) and date as early '50s.

I love Astrakhan/Persian lamb, it's such a beautiful material and the grey is very elegant.

Thanks for the measurements: a normal jacket will be about 3 inches bigger on the hips than on the bust, so to be a "swing" it needs to swing, which is to say, be considerably bigger around the hips that the bust, so that it moves when you walk.

Thanks both,
Early 50s evening coat/jacket it is.
I've never heard that term 'astrakhan' before....interesting...my mom had a coat back in the day and she called it mouton (which after a quick wikipedia search I see is sheepskin made to look like beaver or seal)...she cut it up one year and made my sister and I bear costumes for hallowe'en....I've also seen the term "Boucle" used sometimes describing what I've always thought of as curly persian lamb??
