I came across some very bizarre items in the stock from a house clearance yesterday. Two I forgot to photograph but got to see were several pairs of grey wool felt bloomers that had silver buttons at the leg cuffs and waistband stamped 'My own make' with a large buttoned flap for sanitary use I guess.
The owner felt sure these were later than victorian (which was my first thought with underwear of that size) but much more like 1920's made for an older woman to keep warm.
In matching grey wool felt there were several other pieces that had leather straps and magnets stamped on them. Were these some kind of 'health' wear? I didn't get to see how long they were to tell if they went around an arm or waist etc.
Can anybody enlighten me on these?
