H.B. Burnett Suede Coat

Hi! I stumbled upon this beautiful coat at a Goodwill and was looking for help dating it. It is from H.B. Burnett Riviera Hotel, Las Vegas with the inside label reading "Colt Fashions New York" Lot 8. It is definitely real suede, I suspect real fur. Has pockets but no front closures of any kind and 3 quarter length kimono sleeves. When trying to research Colt Fashions I just keep coming across a lot of unwanted Colt 45 revolver information ‍♀️ If anyone has any knowledge regarding this piece I would love to hear it! Thank you

I did a little snooping on newspapers.com (paid subscription) and see 1950s ads for Colt Fashions. They were made of colt skin, and very costly.

Chicago Tribune, 1959

Chicago Tribune, 1956 Amazingly, this coat came in pearlized silver, pink or blue.

I didn't see ads outside of 1950s to early 60s.

Oh my goodness, thank you so much! This is so interesting and very helpful. I knew it was special when I saw it, but wow! I was assuming 50s to 60s as well but really wanted to find some more information. Thank you for this

Hello! I am hoping you are still on this site and have the HB Burnett coat. My name is Lisa and my great grandfather who was HB Burnett, my great uncle Leonard and my grandfather Barry owned the HB Burnett shops. The first one was in New York before moving to Los Angeles and opening stores in Beverly Hills and Las Vegas. I've attached some pictures of the original store in New York for you to see that my mom, who is the granddaughter of HB, still has! I'm curious if you still have the coat?

WOW, look at those beautiful windows! Lisa, do you mean your mother still has the store?

Wow do I wish! My family sold (or closed, that I'm not sure of) the store many years ago. My mom saved these pictures that were taken at the New York store. I just love them. I remember as a kid going to the store in Los Angeles to see my grandparents. Everything was so beautiful & classy to a "t"! My mom was recently diagnosed with dementia and talks often of the stores. I've been looking for pieces to show my mom, this coat is lovely!
