Halton Halsuede jacket 1970s ?

Hi,

I was wondering if this Halston "Halsuede" jacket is from the 1970s. The label is different from what is in our Label Resource section and I would like to submit it for consideration. The "S" in Halton is more of a block than what the Resource Guide shows for a 1990s label. Overall I don't think lettering on this coat is as thick at the 1990s label.

The Amalgamated Union Label is a bit "plasticy" which I read was put into use after 1968.
Shoulder pads more for gentle shaping than the defining 80's style. Back is ventless.

I believe you are right on the mark with 70s, due to the fabrication, the collar shape, patch pockets styling, and the color.
Somewhere in the mid-70s I would imagine.

According to this link, which seems pretty thorough, Halston added menswear in 1975, so that's a start date. Norton Simon bought his companies and trademark in 1973, and the Penny's line came out in 1982.

Page 139 has the same info.

Thanks Hollis. Good article on Halton history. I can see why Halton is such a hard sell now. Condition of jacket is fantastic, but while doing measurements I've found that it has very short sleeves for a man's jacket, which will make it even more difficult to sell. It may end up as my new boyfriend jacket for this fall.

Great jacket! Agree with everyone's dating, and I'd be hard put to sell this one if it were mine and it fit! Definitely a good boyfriend jacket for the fall! (Maybe wear it through the season, then put it up for sale! Then you'd feel as if you'd got your money's worth out of it no matter what it old for--lol!)

That's funny...it's like that Kate Walsh perfume called Boyfriend. I actually like it a lot and when women ask me the name, I feel so idiotic saying "Boyfriend" when I am clearly married, haha! I normally do NOT buy celebrity perfumes just FYI!
