Hand painted taboo swim cover up - ?s

I think by the 60s these depictions would have been taboo. Hand made in a medium weight muslin both scenes are hand-painted. The sleeve edges and hem are frayed. Would this be 50s or earlier and were these type of depictions popular? Keywords?

Any info is most appreciated! THX!

I love it! Perfect for the tribal vibe that's so hot at the moment. I'd say that 'tribal' was an appropriate key-word. Not sure of the era, looks 50's to me.

I wonder if it's a 60s/70s funky upcycle dress/tunic made from a 1920s/30s? tea/bridge tablecloth?

There was a shop in Portland that specialized in VERY pricey hippie-made dresses, many made from old linens, doilies, recycled jeans, etc.

I got more of an Al Jolson/Blackface vibe on this one.
You should definitely market this to people who collect black memorabilia. You'll probably get more for it that way than as vintage clothing.
