Hand stitched bouson/blouse

Hi again...... another little gem from our costume wardrobe is this blouse which I think is made from silk (apologies for the fact it's not been pressed yet - putting it off!)

As far as I can see it's all handstitched and has special stitching at the the shoulders joining front and back and sleeves together. This stitching (I know it has a name and can't think of it) is also at the cuffs. The blouse is quite deep v neck with pretty non-functioning buttons as shown. There is a press stud here and also on the cuffs. The front opens a little way then is stitched so it doesn't open fully - I expect it was pulled over the head. The blouse is fairly short and has a channel which has some (rather knackered) elastic through. The sleeves are long with lovely stitching on the cuffs.

Sadly it's not in pristine condition as you can see, but I wondered if anyone could help with dating it at all?

Thank you

Thank you - is there any way you know of to determine if it's actually of that era or a copy of design of that time (it's from an amdram wardrobe). It may well be genuine but not sure if there's a way....?

I think this is a kind of faggotting? http://www.victorian-embroidery-and-crafts.com/faggoting.html

In my mind the presence of lots of hand work does make it more likely to be original not a copy. Someone making a copy in an older style won't usually go to the trouble of replicating the techniques of the era, only the style. If the buttons are original and not replacements or additions, their material can be another indicator. They look like they could be made of shell? If so that's fits with the early date.
