So my amazing mother in law and I swap purses for pyrex and she mailed me this bag today. The note said the person she got it from said it was handmade from the 20's or 30's either way whoever made it created a beautiful bag and it belongs with the collection just curious of estimated age
The thread looks oldish to me compared to an antique sewing set I own/ my great grandmas sewing kit and machine i learned with. the fabric is rough from what I can tell all hand stitched but top looks machine stitched.
I'm not so sure it's that old but it doesn't exactly look overly new.

My first impression is that it was made to look like a 1920s flapper purse, using older materials that were available. The satin fabric looks quite plush like those available from the 30s-60s and probably rayon, but the colours and construction make me think it could have been made up as late as 80s or newer. (I'm thinking of when this dusky pink was popular, 70s-80s I think)

That's what I was thinking too wasn't there craze in the 70's to remake or revive pieces from the 20's and older? The purse reminded me of my small change purse with new leather but 20's or earlier frame. Then didn't they use rounded glass beads earlier dated pieces? Asking for my own knowledge. By the way thank you Pinkcoke. You always have great information when I post here

My suspicion is that this charming little bag is a home made crafty item. Vintage but not terribly old, and 1970s seems a good guesstimate although it is hard to tell exactly when it was made. In the photos, I see what looks like a cotton sateen or similar fabric which is not a typical fabric for antique beaded purses, and both fabrics (pink and gold) look like a fabric that was typically used for linings. The drawstring look almost new, and again is not typical for beaded bags. The beads look like an Indian imported glass bead, they have a more blobbish rough shape than the European glass beads of the 1920s which are usually much smaller or more evenly shaped. The beads remind me of the beads found in those 1960s and 1970s beaded hippie necklaces. They are sewn to the bag in a very haphazard way also.

It is cute, but I doubt is antique.

Thank you that was my guess too. You know those small shops they'll say any date to sell a purse. Either way this beauty fits right in with my retro/vintage purse collection I just wanted to hear from the experts
