Hangers!

Perhaps a very banal question, but- is there some gold standard hanger brand or type you recommend, in this case for men’s suits? The IKEA wooden ones are too rough, so I was just going to hop on Amazon and buy some polished ones, but then I read the polish could be bad for clothes. I figured there’s a good chance that, like with most things, there is actually a preferred way to go. (And I don’t think the soft type, preferred for delicate dresses, is ideal, just owing to the structure of the suits’ shoulders and the fact that I’ve never seen men’s suits on them, ever. But I could be wrong!!)

Thanks all!

for my best dresses I have a few lightly padded satin covered hangers. I guess because that's what my mom always used and loved, but also because they tend to help take the stress off of a garment hanging on the harder surface of a wood hanger.

Update: I think I'll be going with Skolyx ones recommended to me on StyleForum, both the suit and shirt variety in cedar, which look like an amazing bargain and my way to go! My only mild concern is the trouser bar on these:

I can't imagine those teeth, nearly regardless of what material they're made of, could be good for extended pressure on fine fabrics. Thoughts (especially for those who own these)?

Until I move into my new apartment and know exactly how much closet space I'll have, though, I've opted for an easy solution that was comically staring me in the face:

I bought a bunch of the aforementioned IKEA hangers and the plastic sleeve add-ons that give them wide shoulders. I had only used the hangers, bare, and was dismayed with the rough texture. Well, duh, if I use the plastic sleeves, bye-bye texture problem! So I just use these bare for shirts or trousers (texture not really an issue) and the intended sleeves for jackets. Inelegant and whatnot, but cheap as hell and will do me fine until I move and buy, most likely, the Skolyx.

These are what I use for all of my clothing. Dresses, suits coats etc.
They are very smooth and sturdy. No issue with transfer of polish.
I was fortunate to buy boxes when a high end clothing boutique went out of business.
You can buy plastic pieces to add to the ends to prevent slippage.

I see they can be bought at mnay places online.
Sometimes the display supple store have better pricing.
