Hatbox - what type of leather?

Hi,

I have owned this hatbox since 1995 when I bought it from a second hand shop in the UK. It is very lightweight. The interior is lined with taupe fabric and the exterior is some kind of leather that is incredibly soft and smooth. It feels lovely. Does anyone know what kind of leather it might be?

It is lovely. Can you show a close up photo of the leather? It might be kidskin or lambskin as they are very very soft.

Thankyou Barbara, is this photo clearer? It's definitely not faux. I was wondering about kidskin too. I didn't realise lambskin might be a possibility. It is just so luxiourious soft.

Still hard to be 100% sure from any photo. Kidskin seems the best possibility, or it could be calf leather that was very fine.
