Hattie Carnegie/Neiman-Marcus Coat

Found this Wool with Fur Trimmed collar and cuffs with a silk lining. I’m thinking 30’s?? But it has a Neiman-Marcus Piero label up top and Hattie Carnegie on the right inside below under arm. I’m having a hard time understanding if this is right or someone sewed the labels like this? If it’s for real, can someone point me to the history of their work together? This coat is in almost PRISTINE condition. It’s been stuck between 2 other big coats for decades and no moths have touched it. The seems are perfect like it’s really never been worn before!!!

You can read more about Hattie Carnegie in the VFG Label Resource:

https://vintagefashionguild.org/label-resource/carnegie-hattie/

The jacket (which is fabulous) looks late 1930s to me. I think it is part of a suit and was sold with a matching skirt. I think what you are reading as "Piero" says "Metro" and is probably the department in the store where it was sold. The type style on the label is very Art Deco. I am seeing a stylized "M" not PI.

Nice!! I imagine the skirt could be around! I’m just beginning to look through a huge costume and clothing shop with our local theatre I am the Costumer for. I’ve known there’s some great stuff in here but just now getting to go through it and loving my finds. I’ll look for the skirt and thank you for seeing the M and letting me know it’s Metro as the Piero didn’t show up on any searches!

The fur is fox and it looks like it may have been added at a later time. Can you possibly show a closer photo of the stitching along the border where the fur has been sewn to the jacket and a closer photo inside the neckline where the stitching is?

Also does that collar lift up so we can see what the shape of those shoulders look like?

The Hattie Carnegie label looks like a 30s label that can be seen through the link that Linn provided.

The Neiman Marcus label looks like a 40s label that can be seen through the link below and I believe the other word reads Pietro.

Pietro was registered by Neiman Marcus in 1962 and stated that it was first used in 1960 for shoes however it was apparently used prior to that time.

I also found another Pietro Neiman Marcus trench coat in UNT's Digital library that was stated to to be from 1954.
