Sorry hit the wrong button.

Here are the images of this dress. The zipper is Talon nylon and the inside seam is pinked with the words hawaiian textiles are printed on it. There are no other tags but there is a number too which I am guessing is the RN 15561. So it can't be before 1960. Any help is greatly appreciated....:o)

The print isn't what is commonly identified as Hawaiian but it does reflect what looks like Chinese/Asian elements which may be a reference to Hawaii's diverse cultures so it is an interesting dress in that respect and could have a social significance.

I agree it looks 70's.

The Textile Society of America is holding a symposium in Honolulu in September. Some useful links on the website;

Yes, certainly not pre-60s. I agree that the print looks more Asian than Hawaiian, but then some of HI culture does trend towards the Asian side.

I am wondering if the tremendous visual imagery of the Olympics in China might show up a bit in some fashion soon. Might be a good thing if it does, especially if you have a dress like this to market!

yep, definetly 70's. caftan-ish.

and yes, there's TONS of Asian influence in Hwn design, actually, the focus (at the University of Hawaii) is by far more on Asian influences, motifs, history; we barely covered Euro design in comparison.

and being a white girl over there i was totally a minority.
