Hey all! I'm newly interested in Vintage fashion and would love your help figuring this one out. Here I have a dress from my mom. What I can tell you is that she wore this dress as part of a "hippie" halloween costume in the 80's. I remember this dress kicking around our house since I was a young child so I can confirm that it's not a 1990s or newer piece... sorry if that much is painfully obvious!
It's since been cut (shame, I know!) but it used to be a floor-length dress and have full length "bell bottom" shaped sleeves. I've never heard of the company, which has a frustratingly generic name making it pretty tough to look up in search engines. The tag also has no CA or RN number. My guess is 1960s or 1970s but narrowing it down would be great!

It sounds very much to be as if it used to be a 1970s maxi dress. I have several of this shape, including a couple which were later cut down.
 
Yes, this looks like the sort of thing you could get in Indian fashion shops in the late '70s. I was about to comment on how the very large armscyes suggests an '80s date when I reread your post and noticed the sleeves had been removed: perhaps this happened in the '80s hence the large openings?
