Hello, I purchased this skirt with a lot of mostly 70s Shaheen dresses however the wearer was sure that this skirt was from the 50s and used to go with a jacket. Even though she was sure I am not and would greatly appreciate your help please.

The skirt is violet in color, cordorouy fabric, has a metal zipper that I think goes on the side, and has buttons that may be bakelite? If you can help me with that too; I would appreciate it also.

I have found other cordurouy outfits from the 60s so I am kind of thinking this may be from the 60s but the lady was so sure that this special skirt to her was from the 50s.

Thank you in advance and here's some photos.

Corduroy was VERY popular early 50s as well, as was this shade of royal purple. I would have said early 50s. Judging from the bumps at the side of the skirt where your hips are - I would say you have the skirt on slightly crooked and the zipper should be centre back.

Hi Jonathan, I think I had the skirt on wrong too. The zipper was actually not completely on the side or the back but somewhere between. I did not realize until after the photos were taken. I had no clue that corduroy was popular in the early 50s nor the color. In fact, I wasn't even sure how corduroy was spelled. So the color is royal purple? That was a wealth full of information. Thank you very much for your assistance.

I do also get into a bind when I have one piece like this. I am never sure how to offer it because it is not a complete outfit. Is it best to match it and show it with a blouse that looks nice with it or to just show the skirt alone with close ups? Perhaps both?

Wow! Let me chime back in for a second. I just looked in the fashion preview thread and saw some beautiful clothing, hats, handbags, and jewelry. I saw some skirts shown alone which showed me that skirts can look lovely alone.
Thank you and everyone's items looked beautiful!
