I came across this Trojan rocking horse pendant. It is identical on both sides. Not sure what kind of metal it is. The person I bought it from claimed it is 100 years old. I had it online appraised and they said 20s-30s. Anyone have any other knowledge or opinions?

Hi. Thank you. I think it is surface paint, it does not look like typical enamel. I can not remember which appraisal site I used, there are a few out there. I just wanted to try it once but I do not think it is very accurate.

Regan, I understand what you mean about wanting to try one of these sites, at least once. However, if they are charging a fee, they should be able to tell you its entire composition (e.g. metal content), and its manufacture (how it was made) -- along with the circa date.

Back to your pendant. I'm going to guess that it has a cold enamel application and stylistically, it does not appear to be very old. However, if you have a close-up, we should be able to 'see' more.
