Hi everyone, I recently bought this fun little set and having trouble dating it. I’ve seen lots of similar designs with these dangling wired beads dated from the 40s to the 60s, I’m thinking maybe mine are 60s?
The beads are glass, none of the pieces are signed or have any markings
I would be really grateful for any help
Thanks in advance
Kelly

Thank you so much for your help Linn and Carrie, yes I love the colour and they are really fun to wear- the beads move as you move, would be great for dancing in! I'm guessing that's where the term 'cha-cha' came from
Thanks again x

Well, actually the "cha cha" is a dance that was really popluar in the US and probably world-wide in the 1950's! I am not sure if the dance itself or the craze for the cha cha is earlier than the 1950's. I have not heard this type of jewelry described this way but it does fit!

Yes I just did an internet search for ‘vintage cha cha jewellery’ and a lot of this style of jewellery is being described that way, particularly the expandable beaded bracelets. I hadn’t heard of it before, I’m just assuming it relates to the dance as it does seem to fit! I think the dance originated in the 40s or early 50s and became very popular in the 50s, maybe the association came about that way but I have no idea, I’m sure someone, somewhere knows why!
