Hi Everyone,
Do these look 40s or are we into 50s or am I totally off and they are much newer?

The upper has a strong textured grain and I can't tell what they are made of....it's almost a tapestry or collage look.

Thanks for any help
Lauren

The white lining, almond toe shape, t-bar, lattice vamp, and diamante buckle are all features from the 1930's, although the last 3 come back in the early 50's revival, I've never known that to include the hand painted silk screen uppers. Yours look like a woven silk jaquard, which is one pattern, screen printed with the outline, which is another on top, and then finished with the colours, which can be done by screen printing or hand.
The shape of the logo cartouches (frames) also lead me think they are 1930's, rather than 50's.

"Almond Toe"....nice.

So, would you say it's best to just wipe clean such a shoe? Should one treat them in any way?

Thanks alot for your help Melanie.

I would not clean them. If they are dusty you could take a dry duster to the inside only. The coloured silk is the most fragile medium and should not come into contact with water. Cleaning as such is best done by a conservation specialist. They look pretty clean in your photos.
