help dating 1980s or 90s LL Bean red wool hunting jacket/ Mackinaw?

Hi Everyone,
I had thought 80s but wondering if this might be a 90s jacket....thinking 'hunting' jacket but also have seen similar ones listed as Mackinaws, which I understand are defined by water repellant wool-ness and tend to be plaid...any thoughts?

I also think it is 1980s, by the piped shoulder seams, label style and the extra back panel, which while in itself is not an 80's product, is often seen on 1980's trench coats, as it is a feature designed to slow water soaking the wearer, by protecting the fabric underneath. This also suggests it was made for outdoor wear, though I don't think it would be actually water proof.
