Help Dating a Beene Boutique Enigma?

  1. Hey, all. First, I apologize that I've been rather MIA for the last few weeks. In short, I just got rent paid and it weren't pretty. :) I am happy to have just found this wild, Geoffrey Beene Boutique dress, though. In researching, I found the identical dress, without its belt, in the 8th row, last column, as 'navy and silver Beene cocktail dress,' here.

I had a career dress cut almost exactly like this in 1988-89, but without the tie belt and probably a bit longer. The manni is 5', 9" tall.

Any ideas on date? I'm thinking I'm just going to throw it into eBay's '77-'89.

As a P.S., has anyone else noticed that "Vintage," under "Clothing and Accessories," can only currently be accessed from eBay's home page by clicking to see all 'other' related categories? Ugh.

    Here's the dress...

    Thanks for any ideas!

Hi Steph! Wondered where you got to! I'm no help with
Beene - Lizzie or Joan may be able to help you on this.

If you can, I would save this until Fall, with the longer sleeves I think it would do better than.

With its close fitting bodice, lack of shoulder padding, self tie belt and knee length fullish skirt, it looks middly 70s to me.

  4. Thanks, comrades! ...wish I could save it, but... Middly-70-ish it is!
