help dating a leather belt - possibly 1940s?

Greetings everyone!

While I very vaguely recall that this belt belonged to a 40s dress I had a long time ago, I'm not certain and am wondering if anyone might have experience dating accessories, specifically belts. The belt is made of a thin leather. It is 1 7/8 inches wide. I believe the buckle is just a gold tone metal. There are no markings on the back.
