help dating a red lace dress?

Hi everyone!
I found two dresses together at a thrift store, and an employee told me they were dropped off together, the one I am certain is a 1940's satin gown, but I'm not sure about this one. Heres some photos:

Mid 1980s party dress, home made - I made one like that myself in about '86. Love the crimson lace. The styling borrows from the '40s with the sweetheart neckline and the silhouette borrows from the '50s. Lovely frock!

Thank you! It seemed newer, which is why I was so unsure. Eighties makes sense. Maybe I should ask about the other, as well. Thanks Nicole!
