help dating a sharpee's coat - 50's or 60's?

I am hoping that someone will know when this coat was made. I suspect it dates from the 60's, but I'm just not sure. Maybe 50's?

I would have guessed late 50s - early 60s. It looks like something a collegiate would wear - dressy but still youthful.

I agree with Jonathan's dating on this one. Reminds me of coat jackets I used to look at from the very early 60s in Seventeen magazine.

Thank you, Mary Jane, for weighing in, too! I like the style, but I haven't been able to find one big enough in the hips for me. The cut is very straight, and my body hasn't been that for a long long while.

It was my Dad’s company and the coat was made in the 1960/s inspired by a YVES SAINT LAURENT COAT my mom bought in Paris.
Do you still have it ?
Let me know.I love this coat ! Wish I could find one too!

Wow, such wonderful details! I sold it last year, but I'll email the buyer and see if they'd be interested in parting with it. So cool that it was your dad's company! The color combo of this one was just to die for. I had another Sharpee (can you tell I'm a fan?) - see picture below. I'm so glad you posted. I love finding out history this way. Does anyone have an idea when this “Sharpee” coat is from? I found it in Sweden 20 years ago because it was to be thrown out so I brought it to Denmark where I live and it has been used and loved by me ever since.
