Help Dating a Tom and Linda Platt Dress

Aha, I see that you've found the correct forum for posting Q and As! Wonderful - please ignore my note on the other thread and I shall offer a new suggestion: please read this thread which has recommendations for receiving the most helpful advice.

In particular, can you please post photos here rather than linking to an external site and if you can tell us something more about it, it would be helpful.

- Does your dress have any other labels (size, fabric content, recommended care, country of origin)? Have a look down the side seams, there should be more and hopefully they will tell you what fabric it is, if you can't find any can you tell us what you think it's made of?

- Are there any shoulder pads or signs (loose threads) that there were shoulder pads at some point?

I think your dress is most likely from the early 1990s but more information will help.
 
There's no other tags, and no sign that they might have been any shoulder pads. As far as the fabric, the black & brown fabric I would guess is wool or possibly or a wool blend, as it's quite "heavy" & has a slightly rough & textured feel to it (same fabric, different colors). The red material reminds me of rayon, when it's woven to be a lightweight, slightly silky & a nice drape.
