thrifting around as always I found these.

The top is very sheer (took a pic w my hand under it)

The dress is my favorite, no tags. Side metal zip with "made in the Philippines " stamped there. This dress will never fit me and yet I'll prob still hoard it forever because its so pretty

any ideas about dating or anything else fun about the two are welcome!

Hi, the capelet is 1980s, made as a dressy 'topper' usually worn over a plainer dress or something strappy to cover the upper torso. If you search for butterfly sequin top you can see many earlier versions of this.
The dress is beautiful, mid to late 1960's I think with the peter pan collar and maxi length. We were just discussing Filipino cutwork embroidery recently on another Q&A item but I've not seen this style of it which is lovely.

I agree with Melanie for '80s on the sequinned top but suspect the dress might be more recent - this is not a fashion item and I don't think it looks old enough to be '60s so I'll go '70s based on the embroidery.
