Help dating a vintage Jaeger silk and wool bedjacket

Hi all

what a fabulous forum. I’ve spent ages just reading through it and it’s an incredible resource.

I’ve been left a beautiful bed jacket to sell but I’m stuck about the date. My aunt who gave it to me said it’s 30s as she was gifted it when she was in hospital for a very long time and a bed jacket was de rigour. Can anyone give me an idea of the date of this magnificent confection.

That's gorgeous! I'm wondering if it's older. I can't remember when 'W' was common - I believe it's some kind of size label - so I'm hoping someone else does, or can comment on the style.

If we can date it, it would be great to add this label to our label resource.

What a lovely bed jacket, so fine. I think maybe late 40s but am leaning more to 1950s. But I am really only guessing here. It could be 30s and looks fit for a Princess!

Having looked at the link given by Jess k I definitely think it’s 40s. The bed jacket shown there is very similar apart from the feathers where mine has lace.
Also, the label is almost identical. I wasn’t convinced with the first level Jess pointed out, the font style was very close but the full stop isn’t there on mine and also on the one from the link.
It would also fit in with my aunts timeline somewhat. I know she was born in 1922 and I know she was in hospital from she was 17 till 21. Again, the date fits with the 40s.
I think we may have our answer ladies. I just needed opinions from here as I was quite young when she told me this, I may have got muddled but I thought it was one of the prettiest things I’d seen.
