Help dating Alpaca Sweaters - 50's?

I need help with dating these 2 sweaters. Also, I assume these are men's sweaters but I would like confirmation and any history and description of the style would be helpful.

These both look 1960s to me...I would say pre 1966. They look like men's cardigans to me...the easiest way to tell is what side the buttons are on. If the button is on the right they are mens.
