Help dating an Antique floral bonnet

Hello lovely people!

I am once again popping up to ask some opinions. I have this gorgeous cotton bonnet but I am a real bonnet novice ha-ha! I really have no idea where to start with dating it. It is absolutely darling and in very good condition. It is boned and has a great structured shape. The printed fabric is a cotton with very sweet details.

I would love any opinions out there! Is it authentic? Is it a re-make? I've been looking online but can't seem to find any other more 'simple' bonnet styles that match this. Thank you in advance for your help!

I am sure Barbara, the resident hat expert will come along, but I can say we have several of these in the collection dating from the mid 19th century to the early 20th century - these sunbonnets didn't change a lot over a large period of time, so its probably going to come down to the fabric, and are there canes in the channels to give it its shape?

Hi Jonathan! Thank you for your response - it’s definitely a feedback style. It does indeed have canes in the channels too, it’s almost like a corset boning in structure.

Yes, hard to date for me too. The fabric looks early 20th century and yes like feed sack fabric which would also place it post 1900 if it is. Is the caning made of some actual wood splints? Can you see what it is made of? I really love the look of this one.

It's just gorgeous! It feels like cotton feedsack and the boning feels like thin wooden slats.
