Help dating and describing this pretty gown from Dayton's Oval Room

Hi ya'll, I need help with this pretty dress I found recently. It is from Dayton's Oval R oom, which was the designer boutique at the local Department Store for many many years. Alas, both the boutique and the store are gone now.
I think it is probably from the 40's. Delicate metal zip at the side, thin navy blue linen-like fabric at the bodice, and a cream, floaty nylon (?) soft tightly woven netting - like fabric skirt with the amazing overlay design. Can't think of what this is called. It has a thin self belt, but this isnt in the pics as I have to repair it.
Please let me know what other info or pics I can provide if needed.

Is it the design appliqué and embroidery? I can't tell from the pics.

It looks more 1951-52ish to me - the thin centre back zipper is more typically early 50s, and really full skirts more commonly after 1950.
