From my first impressions (definetly not experience I've hardly handled any furs) I think it could be 50's 60's in the style of label, but it has very characteristic sleeves that balloon out above the cuffs on the outsides only with the cuffs turned up (does this have a name?) they are much more exaggerated than the photos show unfortunately (you can see it a bit better on the right sleeve of the reverse photo), if it wasn't so low down on the sleeve I'd say that's where your elbow went but I think it's part of the design to be at the wrist. This isn't something I've seen before but makes me think it could be earlier.
Looking at the furs on the resource I'm not much wiser on the fur - several options I see are:
marmot (though it doesn't look as silky or a similar colour to any examples shown)
fitch/ferret
mink? It resembles the patterns and colour but doesn't look as long in the hairs. Maybe sheared but I don't know how to recognise sheared fur.
rex rabbit? this might fit the pelt length better which I think is a bit short for a lot of the above unless they were purposely cut shorter to make the stripes line up better.
The biggest clue might be that I think there is more than one stripe to a pelt; it is hard to tell but the pelts look quite wide to me - maybe I just can't find the join or do any of the above have this stripey fur? I particularly like the way the stripes run across the back of the collar in contrast to the back.

I've not been able to locate any info on Consort furs, I just get cars and some music! Can anyone throw some light on any of the above? I can look at fur pictures till my eyes get crossed but I don't know.

Also forgot to take pictures of the pockets which were made of a brushed cotton feeling fabric in a deep cream/light tan colour.

no one got any thoughts on this? I would really appreciate your replies to these three fur coat posts as I'm forwarding this on behalf of a Charity shop who haven't got anywhere else to send them.

I'm not much of a fur expert, but you're right on the money about The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe!

As no-one else has answered, I'll chip in with my thoughts, and hopefully someone with more expertise will confirm or deny.

To me, typographically, that label looks on the older side of your 50s-60s date. The shawl collar I believe is typical for the 50s to early 60s.

As to the fur, although it doesn't look like it on the VFG fur resource, if you look at vintage muskrat/musquash coats (on google images say), you will find many examples with a similar stripe. Muskrat and musquash are two different names for the same fur. I believe the fur colour varies quite a lot, depending on which type of muskrat and the age of the animal, so I think not all muskrat has this stripe.

Thanks Ruth, I didn't know that was called a shawl collar - and that's my favourite part. These sleeves must have a name, my mum regonised them but didn't know it.

I think I was trying to find a striped fur that looked too similar to mine, but from what you're saying the variety is quite wide.
