Help dating (and naming) housecoat/dressing gown?!

Hi all

I came across this lovely ... well I’m not quite sure what to call it. It seems a bit glam to call a dressing gown, so any alternative ideas most welcome. I’m assuming it is nightwear based on colour and the fact it’s held together with a single button!

Also, any thoughts about dates?

There are no labels - it could potentially be handmade but if so, it’s been done very well.

Any thoughts much appreciated!

that's gorgeous, Impey! first impression for me is 1940s fabric, and would call it a dressing gown or robe, or lounging robe.
