Hi Everyone,
Wondering where in the range of late 4oos to late 5os I'm looking at here? I have lightened the photos a bit to give a better view of the lines
I did a bit of research and I think the furrier here is the father of our great Glenn Gould!
Thanks for any help,
Lauren

Hi there, Your sheared beaver fur coat looks like it dates to the early 60s to me. It's the right length, shape, and the ring collar is definitely a feature that was popular in the early 60s. I actually call that collar a double ring collar if there is another piece inside the collar.

As for the furrier Thomas G. Gould, he was actually Glenn Gould's grandfather. :)

Thanks Caryn!
So I guess Glen Goulds dad inherited and ran the business after his father....I guess they wouldn't change up the whole name as different family members took over?

That's right. Glenn's father's name was Russell Herbert Gould. He was commonly referred to as Bert. Bert inherited the fur salon from his father Thomas G. Gould and the name of the fur salon remained the same. They didn't change the name as the fur salon was prosperous and a recognized name in the fur industry. I would also guess that it was touching to keep his name alive for the whole family.
