Hi All,
I'm listing this two piece, but I don't see a label in the resource exactly like this one. I want to date the suit and submit the label if possible.
Thanks alot,
Lauren

Thanks Nicole. I've read the swimwear info here on the site and had that song "itsy bitsy teeny weeny, yellow polka dot bikint' going around in my head, thinking about 'dating' and the whole revolution of the two piece. Looked up the song and found this 'summary' of the plot quite cute and telling:
The story told through the three verses of the song is as follows : (1) the young lady is too afraid to leave the locker where she has changed into her bikini; (2) she has made it to the beach but sits on the sand wrapped in a blanket; and (3) she has finally gone into the ocean, but is too afraid to come out, and stays immersed in the water – despite the fact that she's "turning blue"– to hide herself from view.

I think the suit is later than early '50's but I can't verify that. Maybe Pam will weigh in? The cut of the top looks later to me. The "itsy bitsy teeny weeny" song was 1960. "Modest" two piece suits were worn in the US long before bikini's (in the '40's as well as the '50's) but the bikini really did not take off until the mid-'60's - in the US.

I think Lauren's Catalina suit is early '60's - not early '50's - but that's my "hunch."

The suit has some earlier 1950's touches like the shirring, but I think it is 1960's. The belly button is clearly exposed, and the top has a more exposed cut also. The print has a 60's feel to me also. Of course I am only guessing, as swim wear is not my forte but I love to guess! I say mid 60's.

Here are some:

Very cute bikini. The suit looks early to mid 60s. I am watching a movie from 1965 and a girl is wearing one that is cut very similar.
