Ok, I have sold many vintage stockings before, including a 30/40s pair similar to these, however these appear older; no markings and not very sheer unlike my others. Design is on both sides of leg, seamed back. Not pulled all the way up on pics. tia!

Sure do look different than the average mid century hose.

I'd throw a coin in on the 20s betting table....but please wait for smarter folk to come along.

I'm going to say teens, from having some that had what they call "clocked", though researching shows that means its embroidered at the heel or ankle....I know I asked about some similar somewhere over the years and was told they were clocked and pre-20s.

What are the stockings made of? Cotton, silk or artificial silk - rayon? The clock design looks like openwork and isn't embroidered right? I think they might be from the 1920's. Here are a pair of black stockings from that period;

and for comparison another pair that are similar but embroidered from the early 1900's;

The Costume Institute at The Met has a very large database of wonderful stockings;
