Help dating hat and maker Maurice. 40's or 50's?

I have a lovely wool navy and grey hat which has the maker Maurice label.
It is a very well made stiff woolen felt material with a veil. There is a lovely bow at the back.
The only problem is it looks so silly on me and won't fit my mannequin's head much better. I am sure with the right make up and hair and the knowledge to wear it correctly, it would look lovely.
Is it 40's or 50's, and does anyone know the maker Maurice?
My sincere apologies, my phone doesn't like uploading the photos the right way round.

I'm seeing 40's and would like to see it tilted further back on the head, so it appears more like a bonnet with the brim just forward and the bow towards the back of the neck.

I agree with Melanie. 1940s, and I am thinking perhaps mid decade, 1944-1946. I have seen that label but am not familiar with the history of it. I always wondered if it the maker was perhaps playing on the famous French milliner of the Edwardian era, Maurice. But that famous name and label were different and would have had the address of the salon on the label as well.

It is a wonderful hat. I also agree with Melanie that it looks as if meant to be worn more like a bonnet and back on the head to expose the underside of the front brim.

Thank you ladies. I felt it looked the best just as you say, when the bow hit the nape of my neck, but it slips off so I would need to do my hair to accommodate. I will try get back to my shop to take another photo of it so.
Interesting with regards to the name.

The elastic cord on hats of this age has often perished and stretched out, so it likely needs a new piece. I wanted to mention that it is the presence of the elastic that suggests to me when a hat is supposed to be worn at an angle, as that indicates it needs the extra support to keep it in place. Otherwise, combs or a hat pin might have sufficed.

I have not been able to go back to the hat today to get another photo, but the elastic is still there to go under the hair, if you look closely at the photo with the labels. It sits pretty much at the centre.

Yes I saw it there, what I meant was that it may not be tight enough anymore to do the job it was designed for properly.

Hello again, sorry I have been away. The hat does fit sitting further back on the head with the elastic under, making it more of a bonnet type hat.
Thank you for all of your help ladies.
