THanks you all again!!

The feather hat is fantastic. I would have definitely done exactly what you did...buy it. I am trying to read the label...do you have a close up of it...or what does it say? Am I seeing correctly that it has netting? And if so, is it in the lining or come over the face? I am getting a 60s vibe on it from the shape and colors but could be wrong.. I would call it a cloche, from what it seems to be to me.

I'm definitely not a hat expert but take a look at the 'History of Hats' department. The hat label is probably the best way of getting a date and I can't see it clearly from your photo. Perhaps 60's?? Here's the link to the hat section which you might find helpful.

If all else fails, I'd take a look over on Etsy for similar styles. Yours is such an unusual one with all those colourful feathers. Another great find it seems!

A cloche thank you.. I will google that later :) here's the label, it was hard to get a close photo of it..

The mesh netting goes over the hat and doesn't come down over the face at all, it sits high on the head.

Thanks catwalk, great link!! I searched around (but I always end up getting distracted by people stores and building my wish list instead of researching lol) and I just hadn't seen anything quite like it, I always hope that's a good thing lol

You're very welcome. I still can't really see the label because of the netting. Looks like the Eiffel Tower on the left but can't decipher what the wording is above it. Does it read 'Toronto' underneath? Perhaps Google Jacqueline Original and see what comes up - or again, do a search on Etsy/eBay. Hopefully something will come up. Great hat!

That multi colors feathers just screams 1960s - 1970s (early)!

Crown is a who knows guess because they are so endlessly produced. Even my daughters tiara now looks slightly vintage...but it's not.

Same for the white hat/feathers too. I'd think very newish (in vintage years that is) on that one - 1980s?

I agree with Barbara: Late 60s (or 1970) on the feather cloche, circa 1980s on the white one, and hard to tell on the tiara. I have seen tiaras that give a definite "vintage" vibe, but this one could be older or newer . . .

For future help with hat dating, you might want to pick up a copy of this great book, Vintage Hats from 1770-1970. Even if you don't sell that many hats, it's full of eye candy!

Cool, thanks all! I thought 60s as well, the white one I didn't know, 80s seems fitting and the tiarra mayb e new I don't know, I love it though!! :) Off to search the label name (duh, I didn't even think of that b/c none of my other stuff ever comes up with anything) ...thanks again!

I found one on ebay - this one, doesn't say anything about date though.. I'll keep looking, I'm pretty good with 60s/70s though :) KAren you got good eyes! I didn't even see that on the real hat!! You are all awesome!

I agree on 60s for the feather hat, but wouldn't call it a cloche - a cloche comes down over the head, whilst this one would sit on top. I suspect the netting has been added to prevent the feathers coming loose, which often happens with vintage feather hats. Can you remove it or has it been sewn on? If you can lift it, you'll get a better view of the label.

Agree on '80s (or modern) for the white hat - are there any labels on that? I think your tiara is fairly modern too. It's very pretty.

Hi, I think all the 60s dates are right - it has what looks like the classic Derby shape, which was a favorite of that era too - I've seen an Eiffel tower logo on several hats, one label, if my memory serves me right, was "Paree". I have several prom photos of that type of tiara in the 60s too. Sue

At first look, I thought it was big enough to come over the head. But now that all the info is in a row, I guess it just sorta sits there. I have seen a hat like this before but in a more earthtone colorway but I am trying my darndest to think of where!

If you are selling these I would sell the tiara on ebay for Halloween time in the regular non vintage category. If the price is right, someone can be Miss America, a Disney princess or something. Also homecoming season is fast approaching as well.

I'm going to sell the feather hat, I think the white hat is vintage since it was an older couple and he said it was his wifes wedding hat - she was younger than him by about 20 years so 80s makes scence for it, and the tiarra I'm keeping :) If no ones sure I'm sure my girl can use it for something or I will :) Thanks again all, I just love this site!

I'll recommend Susan Langley's books on hats and accessories, just as I did in another thread I was just reading. They'll help you a lot when it comes to hats!
