Help dating & identifying the story/theme depicted on this scarf (mythology)?

Hi everyone! I have this scarf which I'm trying to list but could really use some help identifying the story-I'm fairly certain that hte theme is mythology. I was thinking Poseidon due to the tridents but the main character appears to be a female riding on a serpent/dragon creature...it's really unique and I've never seen another like it! Could this be vintage? If anyone has any additional info on the myth or story shown, I'd truly appreciate it-I'm not a mythology expert myself. In terms of size, it's quite large in size, measuring 31" X 30". Thanks in advance :)!

The sea-horse is a Hippocampus, a mythical creature from Phoenician and Greek mythology, so considering the other creatures and the tridents, I think you're right about Poseidon. It could be a particular story, but I can't help you there.

I don't think it's Poseidon, as he is bearded and I think all your characters are female. I believe the lady with a headscarf is Poseidon's wife Amphitrite - as like Poseidon she is often shown riding sea horses, and the creatures around the border are her offspring seals and dolphins. She is sometimes shown with nets in her hair. She is also shown in this painting The Triumph of Neptune in the same garland pose surrounded by maidens.

Thanks so much to Nicole, Melanie and Ruth!! Really appreciate the information-very educational! It's so cool to know that this design has such a specific mythology attached to it. Thanks again!
