Help dating liquid satin dress.

I can't tell the date on this lovely number. I have shown it with a belt, as it has belt loops, but it is not original to the dress, and without. I am not sure if it is meant to be bloused at the waist like that, but that would be where the belt would sit in the loops. When I first saw it, I thought it was 50's, and expected a different shape on the dress form, but when I eventually did put it on her, it look like it was earlier. It has a metal side zipper, and two fabric covered buttons at the back of the draped neck. I'd be grateful for your input. Thanks!!

Beautiful dress - I would say '30s. It probably had a sash of the same fabric, perhaps with a Art Deco design diamante buckle.

Thanks Nicole. Wow, that was a crazy fast response. I guess staying up all night here in the states means I can get real time answers all the way from Australia! Neat!! How do you think the belt works? It is crepe, not satin, and has rhinestone type decorations. I think it looks pretty good.

I'm a bit of a purist, so like to have things as they would have been, but the addition of a black belt is a good one. It makes the whole dress look more modern.
