Hello,

I believe these shoes date to Victorian or Edwardian era, wondering if someone could confirm this for me. Also wondering if the numbers inside leave any clues, there is a 38 13 86. Thanks!
P.S. Hope pictures are o.k., not sure how to make them smaller.

Pic size looks OK. Do you have any photos of the outer sole? And of the insole?

For future reference - I think you are using too high a quality dpi on your pics because it downloads slowly. Anyway, that is the bulbous toe shape which shows up in the U.S. in about 1908 and remains fashionable until just after the end of WW1 (c. 1919-1920). The style is popular in Europe beginning in about 1914 and peaks after WW1 (1918 - 1922) and lasts until 1924/25 before falling from fashion. Sometimes fashions DO go the other way across the Atlantic! In fact in England, that bulbous toe shape was called an 'American toe'. This toe looks subdued, so I am favouring a later date, c. 1918-1919. Did they come from the same source as the boots you asked about? I could see these belonging to the same man and could have been bought at the same time, but this is holding onto a previously popular style, while the boots are following the more contemporary toe shape.

Hi Jonathan, yes, both pair came from the same man. Do you think the boots could be from the same period (1918-1919) or later?
