Help Dating Metal Mesh Purse

Hello! I picked up this small pouch awhile ago, but have been holding off on listing it because I'm not really sure when it's likely from. It's a gold colored metal mesh bag about 4" x 2.75". It closes with a metal Talon zipper with a loop pull and USA on the inside. The purse is lined inside in greenish gold fabric but there are no tags or marks. Any ideas?

You will be able to see this better in hand, but it looks like a purse made from and old mesh bag to me, the interior lining just has that handsewn look. Can you show the edge of the bag and the zip head please? I find the zips with that circular ring pull tend to be no later than 1960s. It's hard to identify as mesh bags have been made in most decades, and the coating appears to have totally worn off yours (you can just see the edges reflecting in the first photo) so we can't use the colour or pattern to help.

Looking closer there is no seam in the mesh so I don't think it was made out of something else. Here are a few more photos.

With a little additional research, a cigarette purse looks exactly right and explains the odd shape/size. I never would have come up with that, thanks!

I'm not sure ChimpVintage, and am wondering if the 4 inches total would accommodate a filtered cigarette. If not, then likely no later than early/mid 60's, but that's just a guess -- however, Melanie pointed out the 60's style ring on the zipper, so perhaps in that mid-century ballpark.

Googling will likely reveal more. It's a nice looking case, btw.
