The shape and buttons and pockets leads me to believe this is from the 60s. But the material and style of the sleeves have me wondering otherwise.

Any insight?

The label inside reads Jean Harper and I tried to Google it, but nothing came up :(

It looks late '30's - early '40's to me. I Googled "Jean Harper Coat" and found several ads from the 1940's-1950's. When you do a search click on News and then Archives. There is a pay-for-view ad from 1939.

This is not your coat but the sleeve is similar:

Yes, this coat looks like bouclé wool and could be c1938-39. If it has a crepe lining you have a very nice example from that period. I agree the fur isn't mink.

Ooo I should post it isn't mink, I got it from an antique shop and the tag read "mink" I don't know furs whatsoever, so I'll have to inform the buyer it isn't.

And the lining isn't crepe, it looks silk-ish. *sigh* I really need to learn more about fabrics LOL!

I'm not an expert on fur but the close-up looks much more like mink than the other photos did. It's not sheared beaver. Hopefully someone who knows furs will know for sure.

It's a fabulous coat.

I think it's probably the same fur and the photos make it look different. I think the close-up of the fur on the pockets looks like mink, too, but I wanted someone else to confirm it! (You know how you second guess yourself....) I gather that adorevintage has sold the coat so may not still have it and be able to adjust the collar for a better shot!

Linn, I know almost nothing about furs, having had only a few in my inventory over the years. But my mom had a mink stole that I had for awhile, and I've had a gazillion coats with mink collars, so that's about the only fur I "think" I can recognize--LOL!
